Back by popular demand is the Turkey & Tinsel, five days in Weymouth. We have used the Crown Hotel many times and it provides a fun filled pre-Christmas break with excellent food and entertainment. On each night there is a different Christmas theme culminating in the not to be missed New Year’s Eve Party. During our stay there will be two days exploring picturesque Dorset and a day to relax in Weymouth itself.
Friday 23rd February 2018 to Sunday 25th February 2018
The Park Plaza Hotel is once again our base as we spend the weekend in London, with all the attractions and shopping the capital has to offer. Our stay is on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is a 4* and is conveniently situated on the south of the river Thames and next to London County Hall. It is within walking distance of some of the most famous sights including , The London Eye, National Theatre, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. The coach will arrive in London approximately lunchtime and then leave you free to your own devices until we return home on Sunday at 1500.

Winter is finished and spring is officially here and the daffodils are in full flower ( I am writing this in September, so you will have to bare so I apologise if they aren’t ) and we start the year as is now traditional with a mystery tour. The 2018 mystery tour will not be going to Scotland as too many super sleuths were second guessing us. This time we head down south to Cornwall as we explore the beautiful Lake District and all that Wales has to offer. The mystery tours are always popular so please book quickly for this holiday. There is a wee dram of whisky for the first person to guess the destination.

Our second mystery tour takes us on a long weekend and promises to be completely different in both location and excursions to the first one. On Friday, we will travel to our mystery destination calling at a suitable stop for lunch. Saturday will see us tour the area with a guide and on Sunday we may do a bit of Ghost hunting!!

We are based at the Best Western Abbots Barton Hotel for our holiday to Kent as we delve into the history and sights of a county known for its historic cathedral and famous faces from history. In the heart of Canterbury only ten minutes walk from the city centre, this three star gothic hotel is set within two acres of lawned gardens. During our stay, there will be a day to explore Canterbury with a chance to visit the world famous cathedral that is over 1400 years old. We will also enjoy a tour and tasting session at Chapel Down Winery and a visit to the historic dockyard at Chatham where there are railway museums, No.1 Smithery, steam, steel and submarines amongst many other attractions to enjoy.
Sunday 22nd April 2018 to Thursday 26th April 2018
We are based in the Queens Hotel in the historic port of Penzance for our tour of Cornwall and the centre piece of the holiday is a day trip to the beautiful Isles of Scilly. We travel down to Penzance with a suitable stop for lunch before arriving mid / late afternoon to check in at the hotel. On our second day we will spend the morning in Falmouth before travelling to the Trebah gardens described as one of the great gardens of Cornwall . Day three is the visit to the Scilly Isles as we cross by ferry to St Marys the largest of the islands where a local coach and guide will take us on a tour of these beautiful and in parts uninhabited places. A more relaxed final day in Penzance includes a relaxing drive to Lizard Point before returning for some free time in the town itself. We travel back north on the Friday with suitable stops arriving home mid afternoon.

In 2016 & 2017 we have had two glorious holidays on Jersey but for 2018 we are visiting what many consider to be the even more picturesque - Guernsey & Sark. We travel down to Bournemouth on the Sunday for a night at the Hallmark Hotel before catching the early morning ferry to Guernsey. We arrive back in Bournemouth late evening on Friday 1st June with an evening meal included on the boat. Our base in Guernsey is The Peninsula Hotel, which is set in 5 acres of grounds and has a prominent sea front location overlooking two sleepy fishing bays. There is an outdoor pool and The Sarnia Restaurant serves a buffet breakfast and a four course dinner. During our stay, there will be a guided tour of Guernsey by local coach and a day trip to Sark with a two hour carriage ride. Our first seaside holiday of the year takes us to Sidmouth and the Bedford Hotel. We have used this hotel with our private groups in the past and have found it the perfect base to explore the Jurassic Coast, which covers 95 miles of stunning coastline from East Devon to Dorset. During our stay there will be excursions on the Seaton Tramway which travels alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves as it winds a long the water frontThere will also be a boat trip with Stuart Cruise liners where we can view this most stunning coast from the sea rather than the land. We have been trying for years to secure tickets for Kynren, which is billed as the most spectacular open air show in the UK. Starting at sunset and finishing under starlight Kynren is set against the magnificent backdrop of Auckland Castle in County Durham. The show changes year on year but in 2017 comprised of over 20 scenes that transported you back in time from Roman occupation, Viking & Norman invasions, Tudors, English Civil War, the industrial revolution and two world wars. Our first visit of 2018 to the ever popular Kensington Hotel Llandudno. Hopefully our resident Llandudno expert Paul will be taking this tour as we explore the beautiful scenery and seaside resorts of North Wales. On Friday we shall travel down to Llandundo via quaint Betswy Coed and Llangollen arriving at the hotel late afternoon to get settled in time for dinner On Saturday there will be a free day to spend in Llandudno. Sunday will see us cross the Menai bridge for a tour of Anglesey visiting the glorious bays and unique villages that the island has to offer. On Monday we will return home after a leisurely breakfast with a suitable lunch stop arriving home in time for Pointless.
Sunday 22nd July 2018 to Friday 27th July 2018
For our visit to Ireland in 2018 we are based in County Donegal at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel. With views of the majestic Lough Swilly it is the perfect base to explore Donegal. The hotel has full a health and fitness suite including steam room and jacuzzi We depart on the Sunday morning for Holyhead catching the 1150 ‘swift’ crossing to Dublin before moving on to our base for the evening the 4* Midlands Park Hotel. Monday we leave the hotel and take the scenic route to the tip of Sourthern Ireland to County Donegal. We travel though Athlone and Sligo arriving at the hotel late afternoon. During our stay in Donegal there will be excursions to the Visitors Centre, Bushmills Distillery, a guided tour of Buncrana including Fort Dunree and Glenveagh National park. We leave Donegal after an early Breakfast on Friday to catch the return ferry back to Holyhead.

So many of you enjoyed the holiday at the Radleigh Hall in 2017 that we are returning this in 2018 but for an extra night! The hotel itself has a traditional seaside coach holiday theme to it with waitress service at the restaurant and at there will be at least three nights entertainment during our stay. The Radleigh has an excellent location, just 60 yards from the Grand Parade, Eastbourne’s main seafront promenade and only minutes from Carpet Gardens and the main shopping area. During our stay there will be excursions on a steam railway, a visit to historic Royal Tunbridge Wells and also Bateman’s – owned by the National Trust and where Rudard Kipling once lived. It’s as IF he had just left, his Rolls Royce remains in the garage and the rooms remain untouched as IF Kipling was expected home at any time. Batemans also has beautiful gardens and a delightful tea room. There will also be free time to Eastbourne, explore one of the most popular resorts on the south coast.

Torquay us the jewel in Devon’s crown and one of the best seaside resorts in England. With its bustling atmosphere it is a great place for a seaside break. We are based at the Derwent hotel which located less than 5 minutes walk from Torquay’s seafront, the hotel offers family-friendly accommodation with a luxury spa, leisure complex and gym. During our stay in Torquay there will be two days touring the area and a day in the resort itself.

With a Romantic Rhine Cruise For the more adventurous amongst us this year we are heading over the North Sea to Germany and one of its most beautiful resorts Boppard. We are based at the Bellevue Rheinhotel which is a charming 4 star hotel with a prominent riverside position. We depart Biddulph on the Sunday catching the North Sea Ferry crossing to Rotterdam. This overnight crossing really is the start of the holiday as the boat has entertainment on board and has excellent dining facilites with evening meal and breakfast included. The comfortable cabins are all ensuite with side by side beds not bunks! We arrive in Rotterdam refreshed on the Monday morning and cross Holland in to Germany, arriving early afternoon at the Bellevue Hotel. During our stay there will be a cruise down the Rhine, visits to Koblenz & Rudesheim and wine tasting in the Mosel Region along with free time in the delightful resort of Boppard itself. We leave Boppard late morning on the Friday for the return overnight crossing to Hull arriving home lunch time on the Saturday. We return once again to Llandudno for the ever popular Autumn Tints tour that Paul often accompanied by his lovely assistant, has really stamped his mark on! As ever we will be staying at the Kensington Hotel for three nights dinner, bed and breakfast. All rooms are en suite with tea and coffee making facilities and there is a lift to all floors. The hotel is situated on the seafront and is only a short walk from the shops. There will be entertainment in the hotel during our stay. Our tour includes a tour of Snowdonia taking in the spectacular scenery and Autumn Tints. There will also be a half day excursion to the Edinburgh Woollen Mill at Llainfair-p-g, leaving the afternoon free in the resort itself.

Autumn has turned to winter and Christmas is approaching so fast that you can almost see Rudolph’s red nose it there is no better place to spend a pre yuletide week than at the adults only Warners, in Herefordshire. The Holme Lacy House is a Georgian House built in 1674 and a great example of the Warners brand and is set in 50 acres of beautiful formal gardens. As ever at there will be entertainment each evening during our stay and the hotel has full leisure facilities. During our stay there will be excursions that include the cathedral town of Hereford for a chance to do some shopping. Hereford is known for cider so we will also have a tour of H Weston & sons one of the oldest independent cider makers in the county which was started in 1880. The founder still presses the apples today! During the tour you follow the apple from the orchard all the way through the presses until the moment the cider is poured. There will be free time in the market town of Ledbury.

This is our 356th (approx)visit to the Thursford Music Spectacular and our base will again be the excellent Wensum Valley Hotel The show changes dramatically each year and people return time after time to marvel at the fabulous costumes, dancing and music. We will travel to the Wensum Valley via Springfields shopping outlet in Spalding and return home via Grantham. The show itself is on Wednesday and we are hoping to once again secure the best seats on the raised platform. Before the show there will be free time in either Kings Lynn or Norwich depending on what the great British weather is doing.
Monday 10th December 2018 to Friday 14th December 2018
Our final holiday of 2018 will be our traditional turkey and tinsel and this year we travel down to Bournemouth for four nights of full festivities at the Hallmark Hotel which has panoramic views of the Bournemouth bay. Access to the health club is also included and has a heated outdoor swimming pool which I imagine is very popular in December. The Hallmark offer a full traditional Christmas experience: Monday - Christmas Eve with mince pies and mulled wine on arrival. Tuesday - Christmas Day, a traditional Christmas dinner and live entertainment. Wednesday - Boxing Day with afternoon Dorset cream tea and Bingo. Thursday - New Year’s Eve three course meal & live entertainment. Friday - Return home after a hearty breakfast. There will also be two excursions and a free day in resort.
